XMedius Installation Guide (5.5)

Before beginning this process shutoff all anti-virus software. If this is not done, the software may not function properly. This guide will help you:

Download the XMedius Fax Client.

  • Right-click this link (XMedius Fax Client) and choose "Save Target As..." (This will bring up a window to select where to save it.)

  • Click "Desktop" on the left hand side of this window. (The box, at the top of this window labeled "Save In", should have "Desktop" displayed.)

  • Click "Save". This will save the XMedius client to your desktop with the filename "Fax Client.zip"

Unzip the Fax Client File

  • Find the "Fax Client.zip" file on your desktop.

  • Right-click the file and select "Extract All...". This will bring up a new window to unzip the folder.

  • Click "Next"

  • Click "Next" This will extract the files to folder with the name "Fax Client" on your desktop and open up the final unzip window.

  • Ensure "Show extracted files" is selected.

  • Click "Finish" A window will now open displaying the contents of the "Fax Client" folder. (There will be a folder named "Fax Client" in this folder)

Install the Fax Client

  • Double-Click the folder "XMedius Client". This will show the contents of this folder.

  • Find "Setup.exe" in this folder.
  • Double-Click "Setup.exe". This will open the XMedius Fax Installer.
  • Select the lanaguage you wish to continue the installation in.

  • Click "OK".
  • Select "Next" to continue the installation.

  • Read license agreement
  • Select that you agree to the terms and click next to continue the installation.

  • Choose where you would like to install the software to. (It is recommended you leave it at the default)
  • Click "Next" to continue
  • Select the components to install. Always choose "This feature, and all sub features, will be installed on local hard drive"  The recommended selections are below.
    • Print To Mail (Optional)
    • SendFax
    • Outlook Add-In (Optional)
    • Coversheet Editor (Optional)
    • Tiff Viewer

  • Cick "Next" to continue. Depending on your selcted options, you will be asked for the server address of your fax server. This is provided to you by a Clear Voice Telecom support agent. It is the same address that you use to access your faxes via the web.
  • Enter the server address in the field provided and select continue.
  • Select "The fax server's XML gateway interface" and click "Next".

  • Click "Install" to install the software to your PC.

  • Click "Finish" to complete the installation.

Open and Configure the Fax Client

  • Cicks "Start", then "Programs" (Windows XP Users will use "All Programs"), "XMedius", "SendFax" (This will open the SendFax Client)

 

  •  Select "My User"
  • Enter the e-mail address you provided to have faxes sent to you and your password in the "User Name" and "Password" fields.
  • Select "Remember Password"
  • Enter an e-mail address to send success/failure messages to.

  • Select "Finish"

Using SendFax

  • Please see the XMedius User's Guide in the FAQ section or download it here.
  • If you receive the error message "Error Message    : No route to destination in driver's Dial Plan" while attempting to send please note that local numbers must have the area code before them (aaaxxxxxxx) and long distance numbers must have the 1 preceding the number (1aaaxxxxxxx).
