Genband SoftPhone Installation Guide

This guide is intended to walk you through the installation of the Genband SoftpHone and configure it to work with Clear Voice Telecom's business phone service. It is highly recommended that you disable your anti-virus protection during the installation process. The installation assumes you are running Windows XP and have the latest updates available as of February 5, 2008. You may update your computer at update.microsoft.com. You may click the links below to jump to the relevant portion of this guide.

Download the Genband Software

  • Click HERE to download the Genband SoftPhone.
  • Save the file to your desktop (Some Browsers will do this be default).

Installing the Genband SoftPhone

  • Double-Click the "SoftPhoneInstall" file saved to your desktop.
  • Click "Next" to continue.

  • Select the location to install the software to. (It is recommended that you use the default.)
  • Select "Everyone" (If you wish to install this program only for your user, you may choose "Just Me". "Everyone" is the recommended option)
  • Click "Next" to continue

  • Click "Next" to continue (The software will install after clicking "next")

  • Click "Close" to exit the installer.

Configuring the Genband SoftPhone

  • Open the Genband SoftPhone. (There is a desktop shortcut or it may be accessed by going to Start > All Program > SoftPhone and selecting SoftPhone) The configuration menu will automatically pop up.
  • Enter your ten digit phone number in the "Phone Number" field. (Do not use parenthese, dashes, spaces, or any other special characters.)
  • Enter your password. (This is given to you by a Clear Voice representative)

  • Click "Network" on the left pane.
  • Enter the call agent's address in the "Address:" field. (This is provided by a Clear Voice representative)
  • Enter 'phones.xmt3.com' in the "Upgrade Server:" field.
  • Leave all other settings to the default.

  • Configure the Audio settings according to your preferences. Clear Voice Telecom does not support, hardware or software related audio configuration or trouble. The software automaticlly uses what it thinks is the best option. You do not need to change these unless you have audio problems.
  • Click "Save" to exit. (Congratulations, the installation and setup is complete)
